Movie History

Personality:
The most important thing about Bard, and the first thing that should be taken into consideration when talking about him, is his devotion and love for his family. After the loss of his wife, Bard threw himself even more into his role as father and loves all three of his children dearly, willing to do whatever he has to do in order to keep them safe, happy, and healthy. It's not easy, given the conditions they live in, but Bard does his best. He encourages them to be the best they can, wanting them to question things, wanting them to aspire for greater things because they deserve it and so much more. He will happily put himself in the way of danger if it means giving his children the chance to survive. If there's one thing you don't want to do, it's threaten his children because that is one surefire way to set the bowman off.

Now, this need to put himself at risk doesn't apply to just his children. Bard is extremely devoted to the other citizens of Laketown and does what he can to protect them as well. Sure, his children always come first, but he looks after the other citizens because the Master and his thugs just don't care. Everything he does has a purpose and most of the time that purpose is to provide someone with something that they need, whether it be some new clothing or something to eat. He's an extremely selfless person, always looking out for the good of the masses before his own well being.

He is a natural leader despite the faults he does have and the people of Laketown look to him above anyone else in most situations because of his selfless and protective nature. The bowman has an uncanny knack at being able to rally others to his cause and any promises he makes, you can damn well bet he will do what he can to keep them. He's not a fan of empty promises and will not lie to others either; unless of course it's the Master and his thugs. Being honest is what has earned him the trust and respect of the Laketown natives and he has no intention of changing that now.

Bard is quite witty and sarcastic, not really afraid to shoot comments of at anyone that crosses his path. He doesn't have time or patience for ignorance and those that opt to be angry just to be angry. While he's not a genius or anything like that, he is much smarter than most give him credit for and he uses that to his advantage. His skill level at bantering is unmatched by most, Bard very capable of talking circles around those of lesser intelligence. Now, his wit has made him quite a few enemies over the years and while he is good at talking himself out of trouble, sometimes it does catch up with him.

While not overly temperamental, Bard generally capable of keeping his anger in check, there are things that will set him off. Messing with his children, putting lives at risk unnecessarily, and, in general, taking advantage of those that are less fortunate than yourself. When he does snap, it can be rather vicious, Bard happily getting in someone else's face or going toe to toe with them in order to get his point across. If he's got a bow on hand, try not to piss him off; it won't end well for you.

5-10 Key Character Traits:
+Stubborn: If Bard isn't one to just go along with something because he's told to. He'll outright refuse someone, even if they are of a higher class or rank than he is, something that they ask of him, especially if there is risk to others in the request.

+Brave: Bard is, without a doubt, one of the braver individuals to come out of Laketown. He has, on more than one occasion, stood up for his fellow citizens of Laketown and didn't hesitate to go toe to toe with Smaug with the dragon began to destroy his home.

+Witty: Always one to have a comeback or some sarcastic remark in general, Bard has a bit of a dry sense of humor and rarely pulls his punches. (Though he will dress them up to make it sound nice.)

+Devoted: Family is one of the most important things in the world to Bard. His children mean everything to him and he will do whatever he has to in order to keep them safe. Everything he does is for his kids.

+Protective: Whether its his children or people he has come to call friend, Bard will go to bat for them no questions asked. He protects what he holds dear and will fight viciously to keep it safe. He'd much rather put himself on the line than let any harm come to them.

+Reckless: It can definitely be said that Bard is a bit wreckless, usually acting first and thinking things through later. (Though, that's not that he always acts that way. It's just..rather common for him.)

Opt-Outs: Harpy, Faerie, Troll, and Minotaur

Roleplay Sample:
"Well this is lovely."

Bard had yet to truly figure out how he'd ended up in such a strange place as he was in currently but he didn't want to dwell on it too much. There was an unsettling air to the entire area and the people, and the bowman wanted to try and get away from all of it, find someplace quiet, that he could attempt to get his bearings.

But upon exiting the strange place he'd woken up in? Bard found himself confronted with even more people carrying signs that were...well..

He'd been handed a small, folded piece of paper and the newly made king had glanced it over, eyebrow lifting at what it had been explaining. Something about monsters and changes and things that simply made no sense. As far as he could see there were no monsters around, unless some of these individuals were comparable to the Master. And he definitely didn't see a dragon around--that would be quite hard to miss.

"Sir, here, this is for you!" another individual spoke up, offering him another piece of paper but the bowman shook his head, putting on a half-assed smile.

"No, that's alright. Your...kindness is truly appreciated but I have one of your informative documents. I have no need for another," he mused, holding up the one he held as if to say 'Yes see, here it is' before he attempted to step past the woman. She was quick to block his path, shaking her head and trying to shove the paper she held at him.

"The more information you have, the better!"

Bard frowned, lifting a hand to take her wrist and gently pull her hand away from him chest.

"Unless you can explain to me how it is I came to be in this place and give me the means to return home, then your information is not truly what I am after." Another half-smile was given to her before he used her flustered state of being against her, dodging away before she realized what was going on. She yelled something after him, as did several others but the newly made king didn't hesitate, eyes already scanning the odd structures around him. There had to be someplace he could go.

"This city is rather against privacy it seems," Bard muttered to himself, shaking his head before turning down an alley rather quickly, making the choice to stick to them for now, at least until he found what he was looking for.
